Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria

The Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) was established in 1920. Its current member schools are:

 

Historical Data

The AGSV was established in 1920, comprising the following schools, All Saints, Brighton, Camberwell, Caulfield, Haileybury, Ivanhoe, St Thomas and Trinity.

By the mid 1930s, Carey and Malvern had replaced All Saints and St Thomas.

The organisation of sport is determined by the AGSV Sports Coordinators Committee consisting of a Boys Sports Coordinator from each of the nine schools and a Girls Sports Coordinator from each of the six co-educational schools, with an Honorary Chairman and an Executive Officer appointed by the AGSV Heads of Schools. The current chairman is Rohan Brown and the Executive Officer is Troy Rowe.

Arrangements for AGSV/APS Girls Sport are determined by a Committee of Delegates and Sports Coordinators from the ten co-educational schools in the two Associations. The position of Chairperson alternates on a yearly basis between the two Associations, while Luke Soulos, APS Executive Officer and Troy Rowe jointly implement the programme.

 

AGSV Boys Sport

The following sports are played on Saturdays at most levels from Years 7 - 12:

Summer (November, February and March) - Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball
Winter (May, June and July) - Australian Rules Football, Cross Country, Hockey and Soccer

Sports were awarded Premiership status in the following years:

 

AGSV Girls Sport

Premierships were introduced in 1995 for the following sports:
Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country.

AGSV/APS SPORT
In 2001 the five co-educational Associated Grammar Schools - Assumption, Ivanhoe, Penleigh & Essendon, Peninsula and Yarra Valley, together with the five co-educational Associated Public Schools - Carey, Caulfield, Geelong College, Geelong Grammar and Wesley combined, now play the following sports on Saturdays at Senior, Intermediate and Junior levels.

Haileybury College became a co-eduational school in 2005, making it the sixth co-ed school with the APS.

Mentone Grammar became a co-educational school in 2006, making it the sixth co-ed school within the AGSV.

Winter - Basketball, Hockey, Netball and Soccer

SWIMMING
Swimming Trials are conducted on a weekly basis during Term 1 culminating in the Combined Swimming Sports for both Boys and Girls at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on an evening in mid March.

ATHLETICS
Athletics Trials are conducted on a weekly basis in August and September culminating in the Combined Athletics Sports Day for both Boys and Girls at Olympic Park in mid September.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
At the conclusion of the summer and winter season, Representative AGSV teams are selected to play matches against other Associations.
